The routes followed for our 2004 trip.  I-10 from Phoenix to Las Cruces.  Then I-25 north to Socorro, US 60 west to the Very Large Array and then on to Arizona, catching US 180 at Springerville I-40/US 180 at Holbrook to Flagstaff, and US 180 again to the Grand Canyon.  I-17 took us back to Phoenix at the end of the week.
