2006 Banquets
Home Up

The WERC opening banquet is an informal affair where the WERC Executive Director, Abbas Ghassemi, welcomes us, the judges and other dignitaries are introduced, and each university's teams are introduced.  At the conclusion of the banquet, the mandatory safety meeting is held with the task team leaders.  These photos start to look the same year after year.  But disk space is cheap!

Let's let everyone else get their food first.

Pizza and punch.

Two of us have our new WERC t-shirts on already!

The closing banquet is a more formal buffet lunch where we once again hear from various dignitaries, see a video from Senator Pete Domenici congratulating us and regretting that he couldn't be with us (funny how he has been unable to be with us for at least the eight straight years we have been attending), and find out who won the awards.

Russ has a cheerful outlook.  The ceremonies must have just started.

The profs are still awake.  Yes, the ceremonies must have just started.

The desserts are at the moment uneaten.  The ceremonies have most definitely just started.

Bob Hutchens took a picture of every meal on the trip just before he ate it.  This is an indication of (A) the downside of digital camera technology, or (B) if he should die, what likely killed him.

Cheerful people afterwards about to get into a car for an 8-hour ride.
