2011 South Kaibab Trail
Home Up

A hike down the South Kaibab Trail, across on the Tonto Trail, and back out on the Bright Angel Trail, a total distance of about 13 miles, has become the standard hike for first-time visitors in our groups as long as they're up to it physically.

This time, all 13 students began at the top of the South Kaibab Trail, but several decided to turn around at the point where the trail intersects the Tonto Trail and come back out the same way.  The others continued on, finally making their way out around darkness.  It was a warm day down in the Canyon, and that, coupled with their stop-to-see-the-views pace, led to the long day.

Below are photos from along the way.

It seems that this photo should have some kind of caption.  I just don't know what it should be.
